Why make this recipe

These garlic herb breadcrumbs are made dairy-free and seasoned to perfection. They add a little crunch to your favorite savory meals like baked vegan mac and cheese, vegan tuna noodle casserole, and roasted green beans.

These Italian bread crumbs have all of the flavor of traditional breadcrumbs, but are made without dairy.

Ingredients and substitutions

  • Panko Bread Crumbs – you can also use vegan stuffing mix or crackers, crushed into small pieces. (Pulse them in a food processor.) They also sell gluten-free panko if needed.
  • Vegan Butter – This allows the flavors to soak into the breadcrumbs and gives them a great flavor. You can swap it out for olive oil or another neutral-flavored oil if desired.
  • Spices – I like to flavor my breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, Italian seasoning, nutritional yeast, and parsley, but feel free to use your favorite seasonings. You can also add some black pepper or cayenne pepper for a little spice.
