❤️ Why make tahini pasta
If you are looking for a creamy, dairy-free, and oil-free pasta sauce that can be made in just minutes, this tahini pasta sauce is the recipe that you have been looking for.
I love to use tahini to make spicy tahini sauce to drizzle over tofu wraps or roasted cauliflower and spread on sandwiches. I also use tahini to make a delicious oil-free tahini Caesar dressing, but one of my favorite ways to use it is to make this creamy tahini pasta sauce.
🧾 Ingredients and substitutions
- Pasta – Any size or shape of pasta that you like will work for this dish. You can check my vegan pasta brands post if you need help finding vegan pasta.
- Tahini – This is the base of the pasta sauce. Tahini is made from sesame seeds ground into a paste with a peanut butter-like consistency. You can use any other nut butter that you wish instead of the tahini, but it will change the flavor.
- Garlic – Fresh minced garlic is the most flavorful, but you can use 1 teaspoon of garlic powder instead if needed.
- Nutritional Yeast – This gives the sauce even more of an umami flavor. (Nutritional yeast is optional, so feel free to omit it if you would like to.)
- Bragg’s Liquid Aminos – For flavor. This is similar to soy sauce and you can use soy sauce or Tamari instead if you choose.
- Lemon Juice – For a delicious lemony flavor to brighten up the sauce. You can use either freshly squeezed lemon or bottled.
- Red Pepper Flakes – For a little bit of heat.
- Pasta Water – This is the hot starchy water that the pasta cooks in. Use it to thin out the sauce. You can also use vegetable broth instead if you wish.
- Parsley – fresh parsley pairs perfectly with this pasta sauce and lightens it up. (Fresh Parsley is optional but highly recommended.)
🔪 Helpful tools
- Blender – for mixing up the sauce. If you don’t have one, simply mix the ingredients with a fork or a whisk and mince the garlic separately.
