Ingredients and substitutions

  • Tahini – this is a smooth paste made from sesame seeds.
  • Bragg’s Liquid Aminos – or Tamari or soy sauce. Be sure to use Bragg’s or tamari if you need the sauce to be gluten-free.
  • Water -to achieve the correct consistency.
  • Lemon Juice – you can use fresh lemon juice or bottled lemon juice.
  • Garlic – fresh minced garlic works best.
  • Garlic Chili Sauce – you can also use sriracha or red pepper flakes. (optional for spiciness)

How to make tahini sauce

Step 1 – In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the tahini, Bragg’s Liquid Aminos, and lemon juice until smooth.

Step 2 – Add the water 1 tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is achieved.

Step 3 – Add the minced garlic and garlic chili sauce to the bowl and whisk until well combined.

Step 4 – Serve the spicy tahini sauce immediately or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Spicy Tahini Sauce

A spicy, flavorful oil-free sauce made from tahini to be used as a dip, a spread, or drizzled on salads or veggies.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons Bragg's Liquid Aminos, or Tamari for GF or (soy sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic chili sauce, or sriracha (optional for spice) add to taste
