❤️ Why make this recipe

These delicious vegan pizza rolls make a fun main course or can be served as a snack or an appetizer. They make a great vegan game-day appetizer. Plus, kids love them and they even work great cold in packed school lunches.

🧾 Ingredients and substitutions

  • Vegan Pizza Dough – you can use any pizza dough recipe that you like or simply buy the premade vegan pizza dough in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. Most brands of premade refrigerated dough are vegan.
  • Flour – just a little all-purpose flour will help you roll out the dough.
  • Pizza Sauce – any vegan variety that you like or you can use crushed tomatoes, marinara sauce, or spaghetti sauce if you don’t have pizza sauce.
  • Vegan Cheese – I like my homemade vegan mozzarella or you can use any store-bought variety that you like.
  • Pizza Topping – any pizza toppings that you want will work. We like black olives, vegan sausage crumbles, and vegan pepperoni. You can also add any veggies like spinach, bell peppers, mushrooms, fresh basil, or banana peppers. It’s also delicious with vegan pesto or nut-free pesto.
  • Salt and Pepper – to taste.
  • Spices – (optional) some oregano, basil, garlic powder, or onion powder will add flavor to the tomato sauce.
  • Olive Oil – to grease the baking sheet. For oil-free pizza rolls bake on parchment paper instead.

🍕 How to make mini pizza rolls

Plant-based pizza rolls work great for appetizers too. To make smaller pizza rolls roll out your dough into a longer skinnier rectangle, about 24 inches long and 8 inches wide. This will give you bite-sized pizza rolls that work great for parties.

👩🏻‍🍳 Pro Tips

  • Roll the dough out evenly and be sure that it’s not too thin.
  • Use a serrated knife to cut the dough to make cutting easier. Be sure to make them thick enough so they don’t fall apart while cutting.
  • To make it gluten-free – use a gluten-free vegan pizza dough recipe and be sure to use GF vegan cheese and toppings.

❓ Why I use premade dough

I love to buy premade pizza dough a toss it in the freezer so I always have some ready for things like vegan cheese pizza, garlic knots, stromboli, or calzones.

It makes those meals so much easier when you don’t have to be sure to have yeast, knead the dough or wait for the dough to rise.

🥡 Storage and reheating

Refrigerate: Leftover pizza rolls will keep well in the fridge for 3 – 5 days in an airtight container.

Freeze: Pizza rolls freeze well and can be stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating or heat directly from frozen.

Reheating: Reheat them in the microwave for about 2 minutes each or bake them again at 375° F for 5-7 minutes until warm.

❓ Are store-bought pizza rolls vegan?

Most store-bought pizza rolls are not vegan. Amy’s brand does make vegan pizza bites, but all other pizza rolls contain dairy.
